I was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan. My mother gave me piano lessons when I was very young. Then in 5th grade, I began flute as well. In college I studied music composition at Moody Bible Institute and music/elementary education at Western Michigan University.
I have had a varied teaching career including 3rd, 5th, and 6th grade regular classrooms, Kindergarten – 6th grade music classrooms, a one room schoolhouse which included grades K-6, all subjects plus music, art and PE, and homeschooling.
All of those experiences took me to Brazil, Ohio, Ecuador, Illinois, Arkansas and finally New Hampshire.
I came to Jacques in the 2006 – 2007 school year. I’m so glad to be here every day. Jacques Elementary is not only a great place to start but is a great place to teach!
Fun Facts:
I was going to be a statistician but teaching flute lessons in college changed my mind.
I enjoy reading, shopping, puzzles, games and Pinterest. But lately two other activities come first. Mrs. Basiliere, former 1st grade teacher at Jacques, introduced me to quilting so now I am often planning or sewing a quilt. My current project is a twin bed quilt for my 5th grandchild (3rd grand-son) who will be two in March. I also enjoy chatting with my children and grandchildren on Facebook and Skype since they all live far away. (PA, IN and TX)
