Modest Mussorgsky
Born March 21, 1838, 175 years ago (as of 2014) in Russia and lived for 42 years.
His mother taught him piano and he became a very good pianist.
For awhile, he was in the army, and then had a job working for the government.
He had to write his music after work.
He had a very good friend, Victor Hartmann, who was an artist. When Hartmann died, Mussorgsky wrote some music to sound like his friends artwork at an art show.
That music became Pictures at an Exhibition.
We listened to The Ballet of the Unhatched Chicks, which is one part of Pictures at an Exhibition.
Do you remember the pecking part and the wobbly walking part?
